The Regiment
Windsor's Light Cavalry is readily employable and deployable.

Mission
The role of the Primary Reserve is to be ready to augment the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) with skilled soldiers. The Mission of The Windsor Regiment (RCAC) is to train reservists to fulfill this requirement by employing local personnel on a part-time basis, and provide them the needed training and opportunities to become skilled armoured soldiers.
Vision
The vision of The Windsor Regiment (RCAC) is to be a part time employer of choice by providing soldiers meaningful and challenging opportunities to grow their skill sets and readiness.

Adapting To Change
While The Regiment's Cap Badge is the Mark IV Tank, the Regiment is now mounted in the TAPV (Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle) as a Light Cavalry Regiment in 31 CBG (Canadian Brigade Group) as part of 4 Division.

The role of Armoured Cavalry is to find, shape and defeat the enemy through the aggressive use of firepower and battlefield mobility.

The TAPV is a wheeled combat vehicle designed for reconnaissance and surveillance, security, command and control, and armoured transport of personnel and equipment. The vehicle is highly mobile and provides a high degree of protection for its crew.
Armoured Light Cavalry Soldiers
Soldiers of The Windsor Regiment (RCAC) working part time become skilled in"move, shoot, communicate". They are trained to operate and maintain armoured fighting vehicles and their weapon systems to provide mounted direct fire and battlefield mobility. While most Reservists work part time and locally; after becoming trade qualified, there may be opportunities to augment the Regular Force both domestically and internationally on longer (usually 6 months to a year) full time contracts.
Marksmanship
Skills in personal weapons, crew-served weapons and remote weapon systems is a key component of the light cavalry role.

Technical & Tactical Skills
Armoured soldiers are expected to use all the systems of armoured vehicles, including optical devices, radios, weapons and automotive aspects. Having mastered the primary vehicles, they progress to using groups of vehicles in tactical situations. Then they move on to working in coordination with other military organizations such as the infantry, artillery, and engineers.
Personal Fitness
The Army has a saying 'Fit to Fight'. The ethos of 'Fit to Fight" emphasizes the importance of being physically and mentally prepared for the demands that come your way. It is about going beyond just passing physical tests. It represents a mindset of constant improvement and a dedication to training and achieving goals. The regiment has been proud of consistently maintaining higher rates of fitness test completion in the Canadian Army, earning trophies for our efforts.
